If you listened to any one of his five authentically insightful Australian country albums you'd likely deem him an acoustic singer songwriter par excellence, with his sharp eye, keen wit and rare talent for capturing the people, stories and scenery of the bush in song. The Sydney Morning Herald has declared him "...simply the best singer/songwriter to emerge in the Australian CM scene in the last decade." Besides his own substantial body of self-recorded work, Colin has contributed to a swag of hits in the collective repertoires of Australia's most successful CM stars, including Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, Melinda Schneider, Adam Brand and Beccy Cole.

Yet take a walk with him along just about any street in Australia and it's only a matter of time before you'll hear an excited young voice cry, "Hi Colin!" Since 1993, first on ABC TV's Play School and then on the 7 Network/Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney, Colin has been solidly ensconced as one of the most beloved (and recognisable) faces of Australian children's television. His happy, engaging and slightly mischievous persona has endeared him to a generation of young Australians - and their families. With his guitar (and often a suitable self-penned tune) ever at the ready, Colin's exploits have seen him construct countless cardboard creations, read innumerable stories, discover the many wonders that lie "out and about" on location, with just enough time to cook up delicious goodies with his friends in the "Bite Size" kitchen.

But it doesn't stop there... If you happened to wander into one of Colin's many energetic live performances for kids, you'd likely hear kids and adults alike enthusiastically singing "10, 9, 8... God Is Great!" or "Jesus Rock the World!" at the top of their voices. In 1996, Colin released the first of his hugely successful "Aussie Praise for kids" (AP4K) albums. Independently released and distributed to the Australian Christian market, Colin has become the nation's #1 children's Christian artist, with seven top selling CD's and five DVD and video releases. Embraced across the denominational spectrum, his christian songs for kids are catchy, deliberately biblical and, musically speaking, refreshingly eclectic. His musical Bible memory verses, including the well-known Isaiah 53:6 ("We all like sheep have gone astray...Baa baa doo baa baa...!") have helped thousands learn and remember the scriptures, while many other AP4K songs that at first appear amusingly simple have a substantial quality that minister to adults and children alike.

As well as his musical and TV exploits, Colin has an established reputation as corporate host and MC with 10 Golden Guitar Awards under his belt and a raft of corporate events for clients as diverse as Optus, HIA, UTAG travel and Toyota. For 8 years he hosted the TOYOTA Outback Club Radio Show, heard on over 120 stations nationally and he makes regular appearances on the top rating 702 ABC Sydney satirical weekly wrap-up, “Thank God It’s Friday” with Richard Glover. And cruising at 35 000 ft on a Qantas flight you’re more than likely to hear Colin in his role as presenter of the inflight country roots channel “Big Country”.

Colin was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1964. His family emigrated to Australia in 1970 and settled in the southern suburbs of Sydney. After a solidly suburban education, Colin completed his diploma in Primary School teaching. In 1988, after just 2 years of full-time teaching, Colin and his wife, Robyn (both aged 22) headed to Cornerstone Christian Community, 18 km west of Bourke in outback NSW. It was there, living amongst the red dirt and gidgee trees of Pera Bore, that Colin began writing the songs about the bush that would eventually lead to his successful writing and recording career.

In 1989 he came to the attention of Sydney-based producer John Kane who was touring central western NSW with his band The Flying Emus. Colin was introduced to John’s publisher and in 1991 he released his critically acclaimed first album through ABC Music, Galahs In The Gidgee. His 17 albums span the genres, from country music to children’s music (with a platinum-selling diversion into the crazy world of Christmas music on the hit Aussie Christmas with Bucko and Champs) and have garnered career album sales well on the way to a quarter of a million units. And 2006 sees the release of Colin’s first book, an illustrated hardcover edition of his classic favourite, Aussie Jingle Bells, published by international heavyweight Scholastic. If the success of the song as a permanent fixture in carols nights and pageants across the land is anything to go on, Aussie Jingle Bells is set to become a yuletide best seller.

Colin has seen his songs touch an even wider audience after his "in the moment" song, Beaconsfield, to mark the successful rescue of trapped Tasmanian miners Brant Russell and Todd Webb. Written on May 9th, 2006, the day of their release, and placed as an acoustic, laptop-recorded demo onto his website as a free download, the song spread far and wide. Another song, Goodbye Crocodile Hunter, written as a tribute to Steve Irwin as Colin and the world were still coming to terms with the loss, has likewise given a musical dimension to the public's processing of a profound and sad event. "It's my version of the makeshift signs that have appeared recognising how unique and special the man was. Like Beaconsfield, that first simple recording is there for anyone to download and share."
